News and Media Construction begins Lismore Private Hospital Press Release 21st February 2006
Construction of the Lismore Private Hospital has begun on the old squash courts site in McKenzie Street.
The hospital is due for completion early 2007.
“We expect to begin recruiting the 80 people required to run the hospital in July. In the meantime anyone seeking employment at the hospital is asked to register their interest,” said Daniel Owen, Director Owen Ferguson Health.
“We believe it will be a very exciting project that will provide much need services to the area. The need for medical and rehabilitation services in the regional areas is great and we believe that we will be providing complementary health services to the existing health providers,” said Mr Owen.
The reason Owen Ferguson Health chose the Northern Rivers region to build the hospital was the growing population, a highly skilled workforce and a shortage of these types of services, according to Mr Owen.
“We have received strong support from the both the local community and existing health providers and are looking forward to opening early next year,” said Mr Owen.
Owen Ferguson Health also owns Canada Bay Private Hospital a hospital in Sydney specializing orthopaedic and reconstructive surgery.
